About Us
Going that extra mile for the pets of Edinburgh
We’re an experienced small animal practice with a veterinary hospital in Edinburgh and convenient branches in Leith Walk and Dalkeith.
Our story started in 1967, when R.F Hall decided to move his mixed practice in the New Town to Mayfield Road.
We’ve been there ever since, and after deciding to focus solely on small animal work, the premises were the first in Scotland to achieve RCVS hospital status!
In the intervening years, we’ve developed a reputation for outstanding customer service and high quality veterinary care, particularly within the fields of surgery, dentistry, internal medicine and behavioural support.
We’ve been running our 24/7 e-vets emergency service since 1999, and our dedicated out of hours team provide vital support to our own patients and other local practices. Whether it’s the middle of the night or Christmas Day, you can count on us.

Our Services at Braid Vets
We want to provide an exceptional service, and we invest in our facilities to help us to do just that.
We opened our Leith Walk branch in 2003, extended our hospital in 2007 and went “back to the future” in 2012 by taking over a surgery in Dalkeith that had previously belonged to us until 1989!
We also make efforts to make our premises as cat friendly as possible, with our hospital holding International Cat Care silver status.
Our lovely team members hold a wide array of postgraduate qualifications and certificates between them, and their experience and enthusiasm speaks for itself.
We’re proud to provide veterinary services to the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, and do our bit to make sure their patients arrive at their new homes safe and sound.
We also offer referral services for other veterinary practices in the area.
